Today, Imperial School of Business and Science (ISBS) achieved another milestone, by hosting their first virtual graduation ceremony for the Class of 2019/2020. The President of Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), Ms. Cecelia Ramatlapeng, honoured the ISBS’s graduation ceremony as the keynote speaker, along with Kgosi Oscar Mosielele and the heads of the industry.

The top achievers were physically present at the ceremony whilst the rest of the graduates were represented by the ISBS SRC President Mr Thabang Motswagole.

The virtual graduation ceremony, hosted from the BTV Auditorium, saw a total of 164 students graduating from various degree, diploma and certificate programmes. The students graduated in the fields of Finance and Banking, Entrepreneurship, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, AAT and from various other management fields. 14 top achievers were also recognised amongst the graduates.

The Managing Director of ISBS, Mr Nidheesh Sharma, welcomed all the stakeholders to the ISBS virtual graduation ceremony. He reiterated ISBS’s commitment to fulfil the vision of the nation and always remain a strong pillar by providing quality education to people from all walks of life. This was demonstrated at the graduation ceremony where graduates consisted of both government sponsored students and private sponsored students. He shared that ISBS will soon offer accredited, affordable and quality postgraduate programmes as ISBS is continuously working to meet the local market demands.

He was cognizant of the hard work and the dedication of the ISBS students and congratulated them on achieving this milestone. Mr. Sharma concluded by quoting, “helping one person might not change the world, but it might change the world for that person,” and urged the students to always be kind and be the change that they wish to see in the world.

Ms. Ramatlapeng, BICA President, advised the graduates to dream big, continue being resilient, think like entrepreneurs and realise that they are the future. She encouraged the graduates to also take heed of the global fast-changing economy, which has slowed down due to the pandemic, and make a mark not only in Botswana, but on an international scale. “The silver lining in this pandemic is that it has made us more accessible, flexible and global,” Ms. Ramatlapeng shared. She also guided the graduates to “define your personal brand and network with professionals within your industry. It will also allow you to evolve as you learn from others and invest in nurturing your talent and abilities to develop even more.” Ms. Ramatlapeng concluded by further encouraging the students to explore the paths of business, innovators and employment creators with the support of LEA and CEDA.

The ISBS SRC President Mr Thabang Motswagole showed gratitude towards the government institutions and the ISBS team for the education and career opportunities provided to the students. He encouraged students to be “a helping hand in building the economy of Botswana” and to “be strategic, innovative and fearless in taking risks in business” as hard work pays off.
